The author’s and his alone’s views on GH are expressed here. They’re usually right on point, suitably biting, and humorous.
Every fan has their own opinion about General Hospital, and Soap Hub is no different. We watched everything—the good, the bad, and everything in between—for five days, and now we’re here to give you a helpful recap and a lighthearted analysis of the GH week that was.
General Hospital: The Critic’s POV
There were some moments this week that made me go “HUH?!” even though I still greatly value the contributions that new writers are making.
- Do Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) agree that Olivia should offer her assistance in planning Nina’s wedding to Sonny (Maurice Benard)?
- Gregory (Gregory Harrison) criticizing Tracy (Jane Elliot) for favoring the institutionalization of Ned (Wally Kurth). What business is it first and foremost of his?
- The almost instantaneous transition of Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) into the roles of father and daughter. There were a few beats that were missed that would have made that development plausible. [Aside from the fact that poor Taggert (Réal Andrews) is utterly illiterate and appeared to be on the verge of (ANOTHER) downward spiral when we last checked in]
- The entire ruse surrounding the requirement for Carly (Laura Wright) to be “signed out” of police custody.
- After discovering that Sonny had left their bed, Nina (Cynthia Watros) needed to be talked down from the ledge. What did she imagine getting married to a mobster would be like?
- Finn (Michael Easton) and Liz (Rebecca Herbst)…Just Liz and Finn, really, ugh. Am I the only one who finds these two to be the least endearing couple to emerge in a long time? Also, am I the only one who notices that they keep having the same, repetitive conversations?
In order to go for a late-night run, walking target Anna (Finola Hughes) decides to leave her house unlocked.
Further GH Musings
- A revisiting of Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) and Robert (Tristan Rogers)? Please, yes!
- I’ll be honest. I’m really beginning to like Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Sam (Kelly Monaco).
- No matter how torture porn it is—which it most definitely is—no one can dispute Sofia Mattsson’s performance as Sasha Gilmore.
- Sprina should be given a fork because they are [likely] finished. The couple’s supporters will revolt because the writing is on the wall.primarily because it’s abhorrent that poor Trina appears to be losing to abhorrent “Esmenesia” in (Avery Kristen Pohl)
