Coronation Street is reportedly bringing back one of its most infamous characters.

Clayton Hibbs (played by Callum Harrison) first appeared in 2016 as the estranged son of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), quickly stirring up trouble. In a gripping storyline that year, Clayton fatally stabbed David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) wife, Kylie (Paula Lane), leaving David to hold her as she died.

David sought revenge against Clayton, but the troubled teenager was eventually arrested and convicted of murder, receiving a sentence of fifteen years to life. Clayton was last seen in 2020 while still in prison.

According to The Metro, Callum Harrison has already filmed scenes for Clayton’s return, which are set to air next month, though his return will reportedly be brief.

The Platt family, who have already endured multiple hardships lately, will likely be deeply unsettled by Clayton’s comeback.

David has recently been exposed for taking illicit money from Damon (Ciaran Griffiths), while Gail Platt (Helen Worth) was hospitalized last week after suffering a heart attack, Liverpool Echo reports.

Additionally, later this year, Gail is expected to bid farewell to the cobbles after an impressive 50 years. Actress Helen Worth had announced her decision to exit the show earlier this year.

Discussing her departure, Helen shared, “After 50 incredible years, this felt like the right moment to say goodbye to the most amazing job on the most wonderful street.”

She added, “Week after week, I’ve been blessed with amazing scripts, and it’s been an honor to work with talented actors, directors, and an incredible crew.”
