Fans of ONE LIFE TO LIVE who also watched GENERAL HOSPITAL may have recognized a familiar face that recently appeared in Port Charles. That’s because Patrick Gibbons Jr., who previously played Sam Manning on OLTL, played the role of young Wyatt Hoover! The young actor made his screen debut in July 2018, and he later made another appearance for a few additional episodes in September 2019. Gibbons returned to the part for two more episodes in September 2021 before doing so once more in June 2022. The last time he came was in August 2023.
Gibbons joined the OLTL cast in December 2010 and continued to portray Sam through the ABC soap opera’s conclusion. He even made an appearance in the brief online reboot that took place in 2013. Additionally, the young actor frequently recasts with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton, who played Todd and John on the sadly missed ABC soap opera. When the young Raging Raccoon scout heard Peter August in a cabin and found him bound, Wyatt first appeared. The boy was told by Peter to get away and tell everyone he could that he was trapped here and in need of assistance. Peter again begged Wyatt for assistance before he merely shrugged and continued walking away. Wyatt later came back for his bugle. Wyatt, however, started untying Peter.
After Obrecht left, Peter advised Wyatt to take her journal as evidence. The scout then went to the hospital and told Franco Baldwin the whole story when he was in the art therapy room. Franco was wary, but Dr. Hamilton Finn introduced himself and questioned him for more information after Wyatt identified Obrecht as the villain when he saw her in the hallway. Although Peter had already moved by the time Wyatt’s information and map were delivered to the cabin, they were still able to find him and save him in the end.
When Wyatt reconnected with Peter in the hospital hallway in September 2019, he informed him that he would soon undergo a tonsillectomy. Peter calmed the anxious boy and urged him to have the same bravery that he did when he assisted in the boy’s rescue. Wyatt ran into Willow Tait in the hallway after his procedure, and Finn told her how the young boy had assisted in saving Peter. Wyatt was eating ice cream at the time. After failing to assist another child whom he wanted to be as composed as when he played the cello, Wyatt didn’t feel like much of a hero. After Willow revealed that she once played, Wyatt’s mother brought his instrument to the hospital so they could perform a brief concert there. Willow reassured Wyatt.
Wyatt reappeared in the woods where Finn, Liz, Chase, Violet, and Aiden were camped in September 2021. Wyatt assisted in their rescue after someone parachuted from an aircraft, and it was Scott Baldwin! The PC Pioneer later paid a visit to the lawyer in the hospital and gave her a locket he’d discovered at the crime scene that belonged to the now-missing Liesl Obrecht. In June 2022, Wyatt reappeared, this time having advanced to the position of scout leader. Around the campfire in Pautuck, he sang along with Violet Barnes, Jake Spencer, and Cameron Webber. When Wyatt hurt himself at a game in August 2023, Jake took him to the hospital so Austin Holt could examine his arm.
