As Freddie Slater learned heartbreaking news about his father this week (July 31–August 4), EastEnders fans have showered actor Bobby Brazier with praise for his performance.

After years of wondering, Freddie finally learned this week who his biological father is after being able to locate him.

Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall), who overheard a conversation between Kat and Jean Slater (Jessie Wallace and Gillian Wright), learned that Freddie’s father was named Graham Foster (Alex McSweeney), which enabled him to locate him.

Freddie was feeling optimistic about his future after first seeing his father, but that optimism was short-lived as Kat, Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) revealed the terrible reality about his dad.

When Freddie found out that Little Mo Slater (Kacey Ainsworth), his mother, had become pregnant after being raped by Graham, he was devastated.

Following a heart-to-heart conversation with Gina Knight (Francesca Henry), devastated Freddie chose to permanently cut his father out of his life.

Fans of EastEnders praised the poignant scenes, admitting that Bobby’s “powerful” portrayal had “brought them to tears.”

Bobby’s breakthrough performance came in EastEnders, but many of his fans believe that Hollywood is in store for him; one even predicted that ‘he’ll be directing films before you know it’.

Bobby declared at the time of his casting: “Entering the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, for which I’m very grateful.” Love Freddie to pieces so far, and I can’t wait to see what Walford has in store for him.

Bobby is a wonderful new addition to the EastEnders cast who brings heart and humility to the role of Freddie Slater, and I can’t wait for audiences to get to know him, said executive producer Chris Clenshaw.
