In the Rovers Return pub on Coronation Street, Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) might be set to move to the other side of the bar when she receives some news that makes her consider selling up.

2018 saw the transition of ownership from Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Toyah (Georgia Taylor) to Jenny and Johnny (Richard Hawley).

After Jenny and Johnny broke up, she took over as the only owner of the business. After Johnny passed away in 2021 during Super Soap Week, Jenny now manages the pub with assistance from Daisy (Charlotte Jordan), Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell), Sean (Antony Cotton), and Glenda (Jodie Prenger).

In the next conversation, Jenny tells Owen (Ben Hull) that the bar is having financial difficulties. Jenny is irritated by Owen’s suggestion that she should sell up and says it isn’t an option.

Stephen (Todd Boyce), sticking his nose in, recommends that instead of raising pricing, she might decrease the amount of food and drink that is served each serving.

At the end of the week, a dejected Jenny informs Daisy and Glenda that she is raising the bar and room rental costs per Stephen’s recommendation.

The customers are unimpressed by the price increase, and the employees is equally upset when they learn she is reducing their shifts.

Jenny later discovers Kirk (Andrew Whyment), Gary (Mikey North), George (Tony Maudsley), and Sean drinking and playing darts in Ed’s (Trevor Michael Georges) backyard following an unsuccessful attempt to host a darts night.

Jenny, who is now sobbing, has no choice but to inform Daisy that, given the current state of trade, they are only a few weeks away from permanently closing.

You’re crying, not you.
