Ray Meagher and Emily Symons, actors of the television series Home and Away, have reflected on a regrettable episode as the Logie Awards, a celebration of television, approach.

Immediately after Ray’s name was announced as the Gold Logie winner in 2010, Emily, who was sat next to him, became a little overexcited. She threw her wine glass on his lap as she cheered for her friend.

She admitted to tipping a wine glass on his lap moments before he had to stand up and claim his prize on The Morning Show.

So I won’t win, but if I did, he might seek retaliation. She spoke.

Ray is up for the Best Actor award this year, while Emily is nominated for the Silver Logie for Best Actress.

She questioned Ray, who was seated next to her during the live programme, “Are you going to get me back?”

Ray recalled the incident, saying, “Maybe Emily was (so excited) and all that and the wine went straight to my crotch and as I was getting up I was sort of trying to dry it out.”

The late Bert Newton, who hosted the awards, approached him as he tried to correct the problem.

Emily pretended to dry her lap while stating that Bert was approaching him and moving in this direction.

What a terrific start, Ray reportedly exclaimed to himself.

Emily chuckled, “I spoiled the best time of his life.

Ray also used the occasion to wax poetic about his old buddy Emily, reminiscing about the time she visited the Home and Away set for the first time in 1989.

On the popular Channel 7 programme, Emily portrays Marilyn Chambers and Ray portrays Alf Stewart.

“Emily’s character was a breath of fresh air in the Bay,” Ray said.

“She was not like any other character. Marilyn has remained exactly the same in terms of her beliefs and how she dressed for her age as the character got older.

“That’s one of the reasons why she is such a success, apart from her amazing comedic timing.

“And that has remained constant throughout.”

Emily said that they were “very kind words”, joking that she would “pay” Ray later for the compliment.

After such a long friendship, Emily said that the pranks have never stopped, with Ray finding any opportunity to steal her book of lines.

“If he can get his hands on it, he’ll nick it!” she said. “He loves a good prank.”

But in all seriousness, Emily said that Ray “looks after me, he’s very, very kind to me”.
