Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), who announced that he had cleaned out his dressing area on social media, brought devastating news for viewers and for the venerable daytime drama.
The actor made his acting debut in the part back in 1978, but he hasn’t seen on television in that capacity since 2020.
His post appears to indicate that the daytime icon has left the show after years of intermittent use. Davidson kept it clean, thanking fans for their “kind messages” and said that he is “eternally grateful to Bill and Lee Bell (the soap’s co-creators) and CBS for EVERYTHING!”

Fans of the show had campaigned for years to give the actor more screen time, and Davidson occasionally discussed his employment status on social media. The actor’s contract expired in January 2018, and he was given recurring status.
