Their story is too sweet.

Shortly after wrapping filming for the first season in her most famous role, Tess Silverman in McLeod’s Daughters, Bridie Carter met the love of her life, her now-husband Michael, and never looked back.

While on a holiday road trip in the early 2000s, Bridie ran into Michael, whom she had previously known through mutual friends, and their love story began.

“As you do, I organized this trip to Byron and hired this small dairy barn up in the hills from the mother of a makeup artist friend. I ended up driving my small car from South Australia to Melbourne to visit family, then to Sydney to visit friends, and eventually to Byron Bay “Bridie previously told New Idea about it.

“I came across Michael – whom I had previously met through common acquaintances in Sydney – the first couple of days after I arrived in Byron, and the rest is kind of history.”

Michael was a fashion designer with minimal expertise of the media scene at the time, and he is now a fourth-generation farmer.

“I’d never been one to be enthusiastic about someone being in the TV industry before,” he added. “I’m also a bit shy, so I don’t reveal too much about myself.”

Bride went on to say that Michael was interested in her “as a person” and not for her career choice.

“We’re both pretty down-to-earth, upfront and honest people, so like attracts like. That’s how we’ve always been.”

Bridie and Michael share two sons, Otis and Tobias. Bridie also is the stepmother to James from a previous relationship of Michael’s.

The couple eventually married in the hinterlands of Byron Bay in 2004.

They are the proud parents of two kids, Otis and Tobias, who live on a farm in Byron Bay. Bridie is also Michael’s stepmother, as a result of a prior relationship.

The devoted mother is always sharing snapshots of her family’s life, including throwbacks from the past.

During a COVID-induced lockdown in April, the Dancing With The Stars alum took to Instagram to thank her spouse and children.

“Grateful every second and moment of every single day for my family.”

“From this GREAT LOVE came other great loves……our children,” the actress said with a photo of herself and Michael.

“Love to all wherever you are and thinking of family and friends and everyone in Lockdown.

“Much love xxxxx.”
