Tyrone Dobbs of Coronation Street recently reconnected with his mum after years of assuming she had passed away.

In upcoming scenes, Cassie Plummer from Coronation Street (played by Claire Sweeney) is nowhere to be found since her son thinks she has relapsed.

Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) learned earlier this month that his biological mother was still alive after being told that she had passed away by his grandmother Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman).

Tyrone chose to let Cassie live into the house after learning she was drug-free because he wanted to get to know her after spending so much time apart.

However, in scenes that will run the following week, it appears as though his estranged mother is up to something bad since she disappears after a day of drinking.

Cassie persuades Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) to play a game of gin rummy when they are in The Rovers.

The game quickly gets out of hand when she tells Dev to bring the drinks in, and when Tyrone walks in, he finds her inebriated with them.

He pulls her back home and gives her a pint of water to try to help her sober up since he wants to keep her away from drinking.

In an effort to avoid reprimanding her, he expresses his pride in how well she is recovering while admonishing her to stay on course.

Tyrone gives Cassie £20 and instructs her to get something for dinner while assuring him that she won’t use it to buy alcohol.

Tyrone begs Evelyn to come over and watch the girls while he goes to the dentist because Cassie is no longer at home.

When Cassie still hasn’t returned from the shop when he gets home later, though, fear sets in.

Has Cassie wasted the money on drugs with her former dealer back in town as Evelyn cautions him to prepare for the worst?

Speaking to Express.co.uk about Cassie’s arrival, actress Claire Sweeney hinted at problems.

“I love Cassie, and I hope the audience loves her as much as I do,” she remarked. She has a lot of issues, is troubled, and is vulnerable.

“As I read the script, I want her to get her act together. Because I am a fan as well and we all love Tyrone, it’s difficult for me.

You wouldn’t want to offend him in any way, would you? So as I read these scripts, I find myself saying, “Cassie, please sort yourself out.”
