Fans of Coronation Street are going to witness a new side of Billy Mayhew when a former associate of Paul Foreman makes an appearance.

As the stress of planning a romantic evening wears on Daniel Brocklebank’s character Billy Mayhew of Coronation Street, it appears that trouble is imminent. According to official ITV soap opera spoilers, Billy will tell Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) next week that he’s determined to make Valentine’s Day special.

Billy chooses to arrange a motorcycle and sidecar ride for him and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) to enjoy together in spite of his persistent back pain. Billy takes some painkillers while he’s out in an attempt to keep his husband from knowing how miserable he is.

Following their ride, they make plans to grab a few drinks at the Bistro, where Billy has scheduled a surprise barbershop quartet for them. Despite the fact that the attitude descends.

An old school buddy of Paul’s named Benno is having fun on his stag do at the Bistro with a few friends, but it’s obvious they’ve had too many drinks. Benno approaches Paul during the quartet’s song and tries to make him dance.

Billy becomes enraged at the intrusion, gets red in the face, and punches Benno for his behavior. As the more composed partner in the relationship, what will be Paul’s response to Billy’s outburst?

In recent scenes, viewers have seen Billy start to struggle with issues surrounding his back and take medications for the pain.

However, fans will remember a few years ago he was involved in an accident that saw him become heavily reliant on painkillers which sparked a drug habit.

Watching him start to pop pills again more frequently, some believe he could be slipping back into old habits and eventually relapse.

@MaryLuvsLaughin said: “Anyone else thinking [sic] Billy is going to start taking Paul’s stash of meds for his back…. and relapse.”

In response, @Dee_Cee95x said: “Billy has a bad back.” I’m sure he’ll reach for the painkillers in the middle of the night and accidentally take too many of the benzodiazepines in the bedside drawer.

“He’ll go to the cupboard and see the stash has gone and think Paul is going to top himself without him, another getting the wrong end of the stick storyline,” @CaroleAnn1982 continued.

Viewers were shocked to see Billy using heroin with his brother Lee Mayhew (Richard Crehan) when he first started using drugs.

As things deteriorated, he made the decision to step away from Weatherfield and enter rehab in order to protect his daughter Summer.

Will he follow the same troubled path he once took because of his new back pain?

Paul’s decision to acquire medications for when he’s ready to take his own life when his MND gets worse gave rise to his current painkiller problem.

His departure from the cobbles is anticipated to occur this year, though the exact date is unknown at this time.
