For Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) on Emmerdale, newlywed joy quickly gives way to outright dread when she is abducted in an upcoming episode and goes through a harrowing ordeal.
Laurel, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), and the family just bid farewell to Marshall (Max Fletcher), the young child who had been living with them ever since they learned that Colin (Mark Noble), the boy’s violent and homophobic father, had been abusing him and making his life miserable.
When Colin learned that Marshall had left the town to live with his late mother’s sister, he became enraged and accused Jai and Laurel of being to blame.
The pair put this in the past and concentrated on their wedding, which was held in the midst of Jai’s ongoing resentment towards Rishi (Bhasker Patel) for hiding the name of his biological father.
Jai decides to travel to India as a result of this and the shocking passing of Rishi. He had intended to go alone, but when Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) asked him if this was the correct move for him, Laurel made the decision to accompany him.
Before anything can happen, Colin shows up at the inauguration of the new bus stop in the community and goes off on Jai and Laurel for wrecking his life.
Colin greets Laurel when she goes to go grab Marshall’s passport to mail it on to him at his new address. Colin is in a really bad mood. As his behaviour turns increasingly sour and he eventually locks her in Marshall’s bedroom, Laurel becomes concerned.
Laurel anxiously tries to convince Colin to listen to her because she is unable to contact anyone without her phone. As her attempts at negotiating fail, she gives up and resorts to hoping that someone will come looking for her.
Meanwhile, Colin’s demeanour is becoming more and more erratic, and he appears to be capable of anything.
Laurel takes advantage of her opportunity to get away by hitting Colin in the head, but she is unable to exit because the door is locked.
When Laurel doesn’t show up, Jai, Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana), and Nicola grow more worried in the community.
