EXCLUSIVE: Emmerdale’s Spencer family have a big decision on their hands following Lloyd Sawyer’s death on the ITV soap.
Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) and Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) of Emmerdale are planning to flee with baby Esther in order to be together as a family unit.
Amelia’s stalker Lloyd Sawyer (Matt Sutton) was pronounced dead in hospital earlier this week, weeks after Dan assaulted him.
Daisy and Liam, who play Amelia and Dan on the ITV soap, have now hinted at a three-way split for the Spencers.
Liam Spencer told Express.co.uk and other media outlets about the Spencers’ escape: “He doesn’t initially want to do it, he doesn’t think it’s a good idea at all after discussing it with Amelia.”
“He just thinks there’s no way out of this; he can’t bear the thought of being separated from his daughter and granddaughter; he realizes he’s not cut out for prison life.”
“So the only option seems to be that he is going to go on the run.”
Emmerdale viewers will recall Dan knocked Lloyd unconscious last month when he caught him talking to Amelia in the village.
Lloyd fell to the ground and hit his head on a rock before he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
After being in a coma for a while, Lloyd was pronounced dead on Thursday’s instalment of the soap, meaning Dan faces a manslaughter charge.
When asked if this would be the Spencers’ final appearance on ITV, Liam joked, “Who knows, who knows?” Maybe for a little while, maybe not at all.
“I’m not sure, but there will be some changes without a doubt, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”
Will their plan to flee to Ireland, aided by Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), succeed?
Daisy stated of escaping the Yorkshire Dales, “I don’t know how they could stay in the village.”
It’s a danger for Dan and she doesn’t want to be away from her dad.”
The actress said her character only has Dan and her daughter, and her dad is her support system.
Amelia added: “Apart from Noah Dingle and Mandy [Dingle], her dad is her main support system so I think it all stems from not being able to cope without her dad and that is why they’ve only got one option to go on the run.”
