Port Charles is reportedly looking for a new Police Commissioner, according to General Hospital spoilers. Someone will need to fill Laura Collins’ (Genie Frances) position as Deputy Mayor now that Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) has been chosen. Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews) has been recommended by Jordan for the position, although Jordan is not aware that Taggert has personal issues. Furthermore, these issues may put the Port Charles community’s residents and the rest of the police force in risk.

Taggert was certain he was Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) biological father for twenty years. Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr), Trina’s mother, kept Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) potential paternity a secret. A DNA test revealed the truth a few months ago, establishing Curtis as Trina’s real father rather than Taggert. Although Taggert appeared to have accepted the news calmly, the truth is that he was distraught. For Trina’s sake, he has attempted to conceal his suffering, in part by using alcohol to dull his own suffering.

Trina has made it plain that she still views Taggert as her father while being relieved to learn the truth. However, Taggert has increased his drinking significantly and has even started carrying a flask around with him during the day. He can already feel a distance developing between them. While accepting the job of Commissioner would help him avoid thinking about Trina, his heavy drinking might put the lives of his fellow cops in terrible danger.
Marcus Taggert Could Cause Serious Harm!
A clear mind is necessary to serve as police commissioner. If Taggert’s drinking makes him intoxicated, he may issue a command that endangers both police officers and bystanders.
