GH Emergency: Alexis Davis Needs A Viable Love Interest

On General Hospital, Alexis Davis just can’t seem to get her act together when it comes to romance. The previous partner held a knife to her throat, and the last one she believed she would have a future with, died in her bed. She has just been floundering without a real goal in life, much less a real love interest, between both of them and ever since the last one.

Alexis Davis: Unlucky In Love

The first man Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) ever slept with as a teenager gave her hope that she had finally found the one, but sadly, it was not to be. She wed Julian Jerome (William deVry), the husband of Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), her adult daughter, in 2016. Within months of their marriage, he appeared to have returned to the mob and was attempting to kill her.

Even worse, he employed the same dagger that Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) had slain her mother with when Alexis was a young child. Later, we discovered that Olivia, his sister, who is Tonja Walker, was responsible for his crimes. Although Alexis and Julian went back to bed a few more times, their relationship was now over.

Alexis believed she and Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan), her former psychiatrist, might have a future together in 2020. Neil was willing to give up his medical license for her, but as (bad) luck would have it, she discovered him dead in her bed after a night of passionate sex. Later, she discovered that Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) had killed him in her bedroom while making it appear as though he had overdosed on drugs.

We speculated that GH might have wanted to give Alexis some luck with Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) after two drunken one-night stands with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) ended in failure. Sadly, that is not also intended to be.

Give Alexis A Man Who Won’t Die Or Try To Kill Her

It is impossible for Gregory to be Alexis’ long-term love interest despite the fact that the story GH has in store for Gregory will be dramatic and heartbreaking. Gregory has been given a fatal disease, so there won’t be a last-minute miracle cure like there was with Willow. Forget the fact that it turned out there just wasn’t chemistry between them; GH apparently doesn’t care since it keeps trying to make fetch happen with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Finn.

The tragic tale will undoubtedly make us cry, but it doesn’t help Alexis’ chances of finding a romantic partner. Nancy Lee Grahn and Michael Easton actually have chemistry together, so if GH wants to be clever, this story could bring Alexis and Finn closer together. She can support him through this ordeal as both his and Gregory’s friend, and Finn might come to the conclusion that Alexis is a better match for him than Elizabeth is.

Of course, all of that is probably just our wishful thinking, but it would address two issues. Alexis will actually have someone in her life who is not destined to pass away anytime soon, and Elizabeth will be able to be herself once more.
