Adam Thomas, a former cast member of Emmerdale, has officially become the newest celebrity to join Strictly Come Dancing.

The eighth celebrity confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2023 is Adam Thomas.

The Waterloo Road and former Emmerdale actor has revealed he “can’t wait” to hit the dance floor.

As he was introduced on The Hits Radio Breakfast Show as a new Strictly contestant, Adam said: “I am very pleased to be joining the cast of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

“I can’t believe I’m actually doing it! I’ve been such a big fan of the show for years!”

I can’t dance to save my life, but I’m excited to learn from my pro and have a nice time.

Adam continued, “Get me on that dance floor…I can’t wait!”

The actor co-hosted the spinoff, I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp, after making an appearance in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here in 2016.

For the six-part ITV travel series Absolutely India: Mancs in Mumbai in 2020, Adam paired up with his brothers Ryan and Scott. They traveled to Mumbai with their late father to explore their ancestry, find long-lost relatives, and experience for the first time the nation from which the brothers were sprung.

Along with his brothers, he co-hosts the well-known podcast series Mancs on the Mic.

Adam is well-known to soap opera fans as Adam Barton from Emmerdale, for which he received a TV Choice Award for Best Soap Newcomer.

Adam was a part of the original cast of the BBC One series Waterloo Road and most recently returned in the role of Donte Charles.

Fans of Strictly were overjoyed by the news, as @traceykmc noted on Twitter: “Absolutely love him! He’ll be constantly making his spouse chuckle.

Adding, Finally, SOMEONE decent!” @whiteryan30 and @CatrionaMcCall6 both said, “Good luck.”

Adam is a member of our class of 2023, along with Amanda Abbington, Angela Rippon, Layton Williams, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Eddie Kadi, Angela Scanlon, and Zara McDermott.
