Following Sunita’s passing in 2013, the Alahan family remembers her in subsequent Coronation Street episodes.
Evil Karl pushed Asha’s (Tanisha Gorey) and Aadi’s (Adam Hussain) mother into the cellar, where she became trapped in the Rovers Return fire.
Her breathing tubes were dislodged by Karl after she was saved and taken to the hospital, which finally caused her death.
Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) and Paul (Peter Ash) show up to join the family for the memorial supper.
Following the taking of a group shot, Asha spots a bubble of light hanging over her image. Bernie, who is very interested in crystal therapy, suggests that the bubble of light represents a human spirit.
Later in the week, Aadi observes that the image of Bernie and Asha has been relocated and is now facing the picture of their mother. Bernie is still acting on this thinking.
Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) rejects the notion while Bernie ascribes it to Sunita’s ghostly presence.
Dev is dismayed and demands Sunita explain to him what she stands to gain from all the mystical nonsense while Bernie tells Paul about Sunita’s restless spirit and how it caused the picture to move.
Could her relationship with Dev be in danger if Bernie persists in this?
Or, given how difficult it is for her to accept that her beloved Paul has MND, may she be using this as a diversion?
