Why Home and Away’s top cop is the unsung hero of Summer Bay

On Home and Away, lovable, well-intentioned local police officers are a common sight.

Yes, throughout the years, the sandy beaches of Summer Bay have been dominated by a swarm of recognizable law enforcement officers.

There were the vivacious Charlie Buckton, the misguided Jack Holden, and, more recently, the adored Kat Chapman.

Given that all three of these magnificent coppers were killed off the program, there appears to be a worrying recurring tendency here.

Yes, the moments were a little too painful. Kat’s horrific vehicle accident and Charlie’s untimely demise at the hands of the reprehensible Jake Pirovic will never be forgotten.

The debut of the next eye-catching copper, my dear reader, is one last, somewhat positive aspect of the relatively high turnover of Summer Bay police officers—but keep in mind that the show is fictional.

Let me introduce you to Colby Thorne, the newest do-gooder in the Bay. He is a legendary police officer overall, but he is also sometimes misunderstood and a little shifty.

Colby, portrayed by Australian actor Tim Franklin, has experienced his fair share of highs and lows since moving to The Bay in 2018.

Colby has created quite the story for prime time television, and we will always be appreciative of it. From his desperate quest for his younger sister to his romantic relationships with a number of the town’s attractive women, he has done it with style and grace.

We made the choice to compile Colby’s greatest moments in order to honor the finest Summer Bay cop.

For the Tim Franklin spectacle you never knew you needed, continue scrolling.

Undercover

Better than an undercover police officer doing good deeds? only when the undercover officer comes clean and starts working regularly in Summer Bay. When Colby burst into the scene in 2018, it was just that—having assisted his fellow local Mason in fending off the River Boys. It was, therefore, love at first sight.

Colby

Of course, without the occasional narrative twist, Home and Away would be nothing, don’t we? It was subsequently discovered that Colby had once belonged to the River Boy gang (cue gasps). We’re not sure if his distinctive “Blood and Sand” tattoo or his sculpted washboard abs could have given him away. Either way, both are important, and we are especially appreciative of the latter.

Fortunately, it appeared that the copper’s River Boy days were behind him. Once more, we’re kind of happy about that choice because the dude looks amazing in his uniform.

Colby Bella

The desperate hunt for Colby’s sister Bella, who had been abducted by his abusive stepfather, serves as another subplot in his gripping story.

Colby Jasmine

Colby’s first significant romantic interest enters the picture at about the same time. Enter the ultimate star-crossed sweetheart, Jasmine Delaney, portrayed by the powerful Sam Frost. After experiencing several highs and lows, the couple decides to enjoy a casual relationship before ending it altogether. After that, Jasmine started dating the late Robbo, although there was a hint that her relationship with Cobb might not be finished.

Colby Chelsea

Another day, another potential love interest for the local police officer in Summer Bay. When Chelsea Campbell learned that Colby had actually slain his abusive stepfather, their brief relationship—which involved many secrets, a hasty marriage, and an abrupt breakup—came to an abrupt end in 2018.

Colby Bella 2

But Colby will always be incredibly loving toward his little sister Bella, whom he eventually found, regardless of what else is going on in his life. She has an amazing on-screen relationship with Tim, who is played by the gifted Courtney Miller.

Colby Jasmine

What did we tell you? 2019 saw Colby and Jasmine reignite their romance, but they chose not to formally reaffirm their relationship. Will this time around be lucky for them?

Mackenzie Colby

However, this does not imply that Colby hasn’t noticed other people; in the end, the copper strikes up a conversation with bartender Mackenzie Booth. Their turbulent relationship hasn’t survived the distance thus far between the two. This might not be the end for these two, either, given his history with Jasmine.
